A recent application challenged us to come up with a solution to a very difficult testing procedure where our customer sought to measure and control pressure, flow and volume of hydraulic oil as it was pumped into a high pressure vessel used in the aircraft industry. Our challenge was to accurately gauge the incoming pressure of the oil and control it by means of a process control that was able to provide various pressure profiles or steps, commonly refereed to as ramp and soak.

Our goal was to give our customer a system that included a pressure transmitter, two (2) process control ball valve assemblies, the aforementioned profiling process controller with multiple inputs and outputs and the means for operator interface that was at the same time both easy to understand and capable of controlling the complexities dictated by the process.

The Solution: Providing the right products to fit the special demands stated. A Wika Pressure Transmitter, Worcester Control Valves, ASCO Solenoid Valves for pilot duty, a Fairchild I/P Pressure Regulator for accurate measurement and control of a pneumatic pump and a Watlow 1/8 DIN Process Controller. Each item chosen to specifically resolve the component requirements and easily function together!
